Education activities offered by the Deutsches Filmmuseum include guided tours through the permanent and current exhibitions, children's birthday parties, film courses and summer holiday specials. Educational materials as well as tips for a lively visit to the museum are available.
Competent guides will explain contexts, answer questions and provide detailed information on individual exhibits. Besides general tours through the entire exhibition we also offer topic-related tours that focus on particular technological developments and important people of film history. Workshops offer children and young people an opportunity to become active as directors and producers, doing practical work and developing their own ideas.
"Film analysis at the cinema" is an event welcoming teachers and students to watch a number of short-films sharing a common topic and to discuss and analyse these films with professional assistance. We currently offer a set of three programmes on film language, pioneers of cinema and animation.
The kinderatelier located in the lobby of the Deutsches Filmmuseum provides a workshop open to children, young people and adults. Visitors of all ages are welcome to build optical toys or produce a short animation with plasticine. You can take home your own animation as a flipbook.
