SchulKinoWochen Hessen(Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks)
March 2007 saw the first ever Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks. Now all schools across the state are invited to swap the classroom for the cinema auditorium once every year. The participating Hessian cinemas offer a programme including movies, documentaries and film classics. The selection of films is matched to the curriculums of the different schools and appropriate for all ages. Teachers are supplied with teaching materials free of charge for preparation and discussion of the films in class. Advanced vocational training in media education is offered as well. The Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks are accompanied by events and discussions with filmmakers.
The Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks are a project of VISION KINO gGmbH – the network for film and media competence under the patronage of the President of Germany Horst Köhler. Cooperative partners of Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks are the Deutsches Filminstitut - DIF e.V. in cooperation with the Film- und Kinobüro Hessen e.V.
The Hesse SchoolCinemaWeeks are a recognized education scheme of the State of Hesse. The programme is supported by the Hessische Landesanstalt für privaten Rundfunk - LPR, with the involvement of local media centres. The project is sponsored by the Hessian Ministry of the Arts and Sciences and the Hessian Ministry of Education.
